A bicycle requires secure storage, maintenance, suitable lights and confidence on the route; a cheap bike without those supports may not solve the commute.

Keep the daily bag light with only the equipment required that day. Protect devices from rain and carry a tested charging cable or power bank only where access is uncertain.
