Separate the gap from the next term

Make one list for the time between rooms and another for the first week at your next destination. Plan the collection before the drop-off

Think through the final journey while you still have control over the packing. Find out whether someone else can collect on your behalf and what the provider would require, if that possibility matters to your plans. Confirm transport capacity, collection times and the access available at your new address. A storage arrangement that is easy to fill can still be inconvenient to empty. Pack first-week belongings where they can be identified quickly, while following any stacking instructions for the space. Do not rely on being able to unpack and repack a crowded storage area simply to retrieve one forgotten kitchen item.

Match the stored load to the next room

Before collection, compare your inventory with the furniture and storage provided in the next accommodation. The aim is to decide where belongings will go, not automatically buy extra furniture to absorb every box. Identify items that should remain packed temporarily and those you need on arrival. If plans have changed, arrange any redistribution or further storage through the relevant people in advance. Keep the box list until unpacking is complete so missing belongings can be traced to a specific container. Then record the changes that would make the next gap easier, such as keeping seasonal clothing separate from current course materials.
